Helping People Achieve Positive Outcomes

Virginia Grace Taylor, M.S.
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Mental Health Therapist

Grace started their education at the University of North Florida, where they worked as a lab assistant in a PTSD study. They learned a lot about the nervous system, as well as polyvagal theory and how much trauma can affect not only the mind but also physical health. They then began their master's in clinical mental health counseling at Jacksonville University. During their internship, they were trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and worked with adolescents, adults, and families, teaching psychoeducational groups as well as doing more individualized sessions. They also worked in an outpatient substance abuse program that focused on helping individuals with drug-related charges to help them avoid reoffending. Grace also has experience working with LGBTQ+ populations and is a part of the community themself.

Not everyone is given the tools to handle the chaos of life, but together, I hope to help you learn how to grow strong roots to keep you steady and to find joy swaying with the storms life brings.

Meet Virginia

What was your path to pursuing the mental health field?
Working at my family’s horse barn was more than physical labor; it was where I discovered my calling. I started by teaching people to ride horses, using grounding techniques to help them overcome their fear of the possible danger in the sport. Some of my favorite clients were the neurodivergent kids/teens brought out by parents who had read about the benefits of being around horses. Seeing their progress not just with the sport, but their personal growth and newfound sense of community, taught me the power of helping others. This experience, combined with my psychology studies, affirmed my desire to work with people. My own journey through therapy taught me the importance of self-care, trusting my intuition, and being truly heard. This created a deeper level of empathy that I bring to my work.

What should someone know about working with you?
I believe in the power of authenticity in sessions. We are all human, and we are all doing the best we can with what we've got. I often find that people connect and grow the most when they know that I am human too, and I am using or have used most of the skills I recommend. Not everyone is given the tools to handle the chaos of life, but together, I hope to help you learn how to grow strong roots to keep you steady and to find joy swaying with the storms life brings.
