Adoption Competent Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based, trauma-informed, and attachment-based therapeutic model to support Foster and Adoptive Families who are or have been in foster care, or those who are in the process of or are adopted. ACT offers tools and interventions to develop positive familial attachments, and safety skills, and assist families in the foster and adoptive process.

  • At Positive Behavioral Solutions, we train our therapists and other community mental health professionals to be adoption competent to offer Adoption Competent Therapy.

  • How Do I Know if I Qualify?

    • Your family, child, adolescent, or teen is in foster care, in the process of becoming adopted, or has been adopted.

    • Your family, child, adolescent, or teen is struggling to adjust to their new environment and family dynamic.

    • Your family, child, adolescent, or teen is experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, or behavioral concerns.
