Meet Kyle
What was your path to becoming a mental health therapist?
As a former “troubled teen” myself, I know what it’s like to see therapists and feel invalidated or ignored. I remember how difficult it was to go to therapy week after week and feel like I was getting nowhere. When I was connected with a therapist who worked at my pace, I was able to see how healing therapy can be. I wanted to help others like myself who had felt unheard and give them the space they needed to be themselves. I realized we cannot discover who we are and who we want to be until we take a step back to go at our own pace. Now as a mental health therapist, I strive to do the same for my clients.
What should someone know about working with you?
I focus on your comfort first and foremost in session, so every session may be a little different depending on how you’re feeling. Some days I may pass you the “mental steering wheel” if you feel like leading, other days we may share it if you’re looking for a more collaborative approach. If it’s hard to focus during a session, maybe we put on some music. If sitting and talking is too intense sometimes, maybe we discuss any stressors that week while putting a puzzle together. I believe therapy shouldn’t feel like a day in the office or classroom unless you want it to be. Let’s get to know you so we can do what works best for you!
