Helping People Achieve Positive Outcomes
Jessica Kaba
Student Intern
Jessica is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Minoring in Human Services at the University of Central Florida. During her time at the University, she has been a member of the Active Minds chapter, which aims to reduce the stigma around mental health and invites students to engage in open discussions and be a part of a supportive community. Jessica hopes to obtain her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling after she graduates with her Bachelor's.
Why did you choose to pursue an internship in the mental healthfield?
I have always been told I am passionate and down-to-earth when engaging in conversations with friends, family, and even strangers. I often find the good in people and want to be their biggest cheerleader. Once I discovered the career of mental health counseling, I knew it aligned with my personal values and strengths. I wanted an internship directly in the field of mental health to get hands-on experience and involvement with the community. This would allow me to learn what it takes to be a helping provider and strengthen my knowledge and passions for the future.
What is a fun fact about you?
I work at a pottery studio and have fostered and found homes for 7 kittens!
