Meet Halima
What was your path to becoming a mental health therapist?
I started my career as a teacher, I thought I would be content, but my heart cried to serve and make a greater impact. I then pivoted to River Region Human Services, where I primarily served clients with substance abuse and/or HIV/AIDS. Given the varied exposure, I increased my experience and joined the staff of Community Rehabilitation Center where I worked with the Ryan White program. This included overseeing psychosocial rehabilitation groups for clients that participated in day, group services at the facility. I then matriculated to Right Path Behavioral Services to broaden my scope inclusive of children. I have now served as a mental health counselor to both children and adults for approximately seven years. This opportunity compelled me forward to becoming a licensed mental health therapist. I finished the mental health counseling program with Nova Southeastern University in May 2024. I am now a registered mental health counselor intern in the State of Florida and am eligible for full licensure.
What should someone know about working with you?
From day one of my career, my goal has been to directly impact others. When you select me, you get someone committed to guiding you to a greater you. I always extend a helping hand; if I can meet someone, I can reach someone. My reach is different… I Inspire and Motivate People for Application, Connection, and Transformation; one session at a time, one step at a time.
