Meet Farnoosh

What was your path to becoming a mental health therapist?
The major event that pushed me to seek a career in mental health was going through my own struggles. At the time, I had no idea what Anxiety was or how it could impact a person. Culturally, mental health was not something that was discussed. It wasn't until I was in college, pursuing a degree in Health Management, where I had taken a psychology course and fell in love with the concept of what the mind can do. It was after this course that I switched majors to psychology. After working in the field for 4 years, I decided to do more. At this point, I had worked with countless therapists and I wanted to make a difference. I went back to school to pursue my Master’s in Counseling and honestly, it has been an eye-opening experience.

What should someone know about working with you?
I understand the importance of being culturally and linguistically competent when working with clients. My approach to therapy is innovative in that I help my clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Beyond my professional achievements, I am a creative artist and an avid reader, and I enjoy collecting Pokemon cards!
