Meet Devon

What was your path to becoming a mental health therapist?
My journey to becoming a mental health therapist has been driven by a deep commitment to empowering individuals through resilience, healing, and personal growth. It began with my work at the TRIO Upward Bound Program where I supported at-risk youth, blending academic counseling with emotional wellness strategies to help students overcome challenges. My experience at the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and Dismas Charities deepened my understanding of how unaddressed trauma can impact emotional health and inspired me to specialize further in working with vulnerable populations.

My experiences have reinforced my belief that healing occurs through genuine connection, evidence-based care, and unwavering support. My path has been shaped by a desire to help clients rewrite their stories, overcome adversity, and discover their own strength on their journey toward lasting wellness.

What should someone know about working with you?
When working with me, clients can expect a compassionate, client-centered approach grounded in empathy, collaboration, and empowerment. I strive to create a therapeutic space where individuals feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore their narratives while developing healthier coping skills.

Outside of the clinical setting, my love for Disney theme parks and animals influences my work in meaningful ways. I believe in the power of storytelling, imagination, and personal transformation - reminding clients that, much like the heroes of their favorite stories, they have the strength to overcome challenges and create their path to healing. Whether it’s embracing creativity, finding joy in small moments, or drawing parallels to themes of courage and resilience, I bring a sense of positivity and hope into the therapeutic process.
