Darneshia was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science and a Master's of Social Work from Southern Illinois University. Darneshia works with clients aged 4-19 years old and their families. Darneshia specializes in trauma-based therapy. She is trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). She provides a safe and comfortable space to address client's stated goals/needs during every session.

What was your path to pursuing the mental health field?
I completed a trauma fellowship with the SIU School of Medicine and quickly found out that mental health therapy, trauma, and myself go hand-in-hand. I enjoy being the support person to help a shattered heart become whole again. 

What should someone know about working with you?
I like to take a trauma-informed, paced approach. You're always in control of what we explore and when. I prioritize creating safety and helping you develop tools to ground yourself before we go into deeper work. I like to make sure our work feels purposeful. We'll set clear goals together and check in on progress regularly. I'll offer practical tools and exercises, but we'll also take time to explore emotions and patterns underneath.
