Meet Anne
What was your path to pursuing the mental health field?
My path to the mental health field has been shaped by personal experience, resilience, and a deep desire to help others feel seen and supported. As someone adopted at birth, I grew up exploring questions of identity, belonging, and cultural differences. I later experienced the loss of my adoptive father during adolescence, a time when I felt confused by my grief. A compassionate high school counselor made a meaningful impact on my healing and self-esteem, and that experience planted the early seed for my career in counseling.
I majored in Psychology in college while also navigating ADHD and the challenges of a large university environment. Although I sometimes doubted my abilities, I always felt drawn to a helping profession. Over time, I gained confidence through various roles, including a meaningful position at George Mason University where I worked closely with a diverse campus community. Becoming a parent, moving through major life transitions, and navigating my own growth further strengthened my empathy and my understanding of resilience.
Returning to graduate school renewed my sense of purpose. I now maintain a 4.0 GPA and feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to support others on their healing journey. My experiences have taught me that people are capable of far more than they realize, and it is an honor to help clients discover their strengths and move forward with confidence.
What should someone know about working with you?
When you work with me, you can expect a warm, empathetic presence and a genuine appreciation for your unique experiences and identity. My goal is to create a supportive, culturally aware space where you feel truly heard, respected, and encouraged to grow at your own pace. I view our work together as a collaborative process—we will explore challenges with curiosity, uncover the strengths you already possess, and build practical tools to support your healing and personal development. I deeply believe in every person’s capacity to grow, adapt, and overcome obstacles, and I am committed to walking alongside you with compassion, encouragement, and confidence as you move toward your full potential.
