Positive Behavioral Solutions

Helping People Achieve Positive Outcomes

Alisse Ortega

Student Intern

Alisse graduated from Seminole State College with an Associate’s degree. Alisse later transferred to the University of Central Florida, where she is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology. Alisse is also working on getting accepted into graduate school in hopes of getting into a Psy. D. program and earning a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Interning at Positive Behavioral Solutions is her first exposure to working in the mental health field and understanding the behind-the-scenes work with Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialists. Alisse is enjoying shadowing sessions, learning how to decipher therapist notes, and communicating with other therapists about their experiences.

Why did you choose to pursue an internship in the mental health field?
I chose to pursue an internship in mental health because I wanted to have real-life experiences with what I'm studying in my classes. Learning about a field and working with what I've learned are two very different experiences, and I'm very grateful for this opportunity.

What is a fun fact about you?
Many of the things I am learning in my internship, I actually already learned about through my uncle, who is a Psychologist with his own practice. I've been learning about this field since high school by watching him and asking a lot of questions about what he does behind the scenes and on the job.
